utah trip: besties

The beautiful view from Juli's dad's house.  We are always feel so lucky that he lets us stay there!
The main reason we ventured to Utah was because my best friend Juli was blessing her baby in Logan and my other best friend Sayward just had a baby as well.  I hate that we don't all live in the same town, and it only gets worse when they have babies and I'm not there to meet them right away.

Luckily things are always the same when we get together and it's like we started right were we left off.  Granted, our conversations are geared more towards, babies, birth, nursing, poopy diapers, etc now, but that is our lives at the moment and I don't think we would have it any other way.

I loved seeing my besties with babies!  It's awesome to watch your friends grow and mature and become mothers.  And of course I was super emotional about meeting these two little babes.  I couldn't help but cry when I met Ascher for the first time, and when I saw Ava in her beautiful blessing dress I couldn't hold back the tears.  Yeah I'm a freak what can I say!

Although I was enjoying all the newborn baby holding Kash was hating it.  He would get super jealous anytime I would hold Ava or Ascher, good thing Blaine was there to distract him most of the time!

Sweet baby Ava, and her cute little smile!
Baby Ascher loved me ha

Love this picture!  Almost 10 years later and so many new people in the picture!  Thanks for making this picture happen Nat.

The girl of the day

We feel so blessed to have such great friends that despite the fact that we all live in different states that we get to see each other so often!  Thanks for a great weekend friends, we miss you!!!

utah trip: aunt karen

Next stop on the Utah Express was Karen!  If there's anyone that loves Kash more than us it's probably Karen! haha  It will be sad when she has her own kids and doesn't love mine as much haha

We picked her up from her apartment, but in true Erica/Karen fashion we had to get a few pics first.

Blaine was pretty excited about Karen's love for the Nuggets...lame!
Then we went to Cafe Sabor for dinner.  But we were a little disappointed when we realized they raised the prices, still good food though.  When we came out of the restaurant it was blizzard!  I seriously forgot how much it snows in Logan and how quickly.  I kinda loved it though, it wouldn't be a Logan trip with out a blizzard!  Kash just so happened to love it as well.  He kept trying to grab the snowflakes and giggling!

Bad news is that it delayed the Dewey's flight and they didn't get into Logan till 3am!

Good to see you Karen!  Can't wait for you to be home for the summer!

baby shower

And finally the reason Kash and I went to Utah...for Juli's baby shower!  Being with my best friends in Logan is one of my all time favorite things, I seriously have the best friends ever!  And I think they are the best because they are the best for me.  We all totally have the same sense of humor, have the same interest and apparently love having babies! :)  It was great to see all you girls!

summer equals watermelon and road trips

I have an addiction.  I brought a bowl of watermelon to work to snack on through out the day, well I have no self control when it comes to watermelon and it was all gone by 10:00am...woops!

On a different note we are heading to Utah this week for one of my best friend's wedding.  It will be fun to see Sayward tie the knot, show Kash around our old stomping grounds (his first trip to the UT), see our Dewey's again and eat at all the local restaurants in Logan!  Blaine and I have so many places we want to eat at while we're there that instead of bringing home souvenirs we'll probably just bring home a few extra lbs!

PS-watch for Kash's 5 month post this week...big things happened last month!

t h r e e

I know this time of year blogs are filled with gushy posts about people's anniversaries. Well our anniversary is just as important so here's another one!
I love candid pictures-the kind that capture who you really are without the cheesy smile. Just natural interaction.

One of my favorite memories with Blaine is when we were dating...Sundays when we were dating in particular. We would spend all day together on Sundays and I would usually beg him to take me on a drive through Logan Canyon. We would drive for hours and Ben Folds: Songs for Silverman was usually the soundtrack to these mini road trips. We would cruise around in his old Mazda that had a fancy cd player and I would always change the screen saver to the swimming dolphins...he hated that one! :) Later it would be his new Land Cruiser, Spike, in which I would ask him to drive deep into the mountains so that we could hunt for the fall leaves just starting to change--he didn't mind this so much because he got to really test Spike's offroading skills. Sometimes we would stop off at First Damn and feed the ducks. Sometimes we would just end up walking the trail at Second Damn.

Dang, I miss those days!

I love thinking about that time in our lives. The beginning where we were starting to fall in love. It didn't matter back then what we were doing as long as we were together. It didn't matter what our friends were doing or what we may have been missing out on just as long as we were together.

Happy Anniversary Beez! I LOVE YOU!

we're back in the dance, yo!

Apparently I turn ghetto when talking about basketball?!? Awesome.

Utah State plays in the tournament today. For more details on how exciting this is for USU and how in the end the Aggies will probably never get the recognition they deserve check out what Marques has to say.

"classy girls weekend"

What I've learned over the years is when you get old you have to buy a plane ticket instead of hopping in your car and driving a few blocks to see your best friends. This weekend I bought a ticket and jumped on a plane to Utah to see my best friends in the whole wide world!

I don't think it's a secret that it's been kind of hard for me to leave my life in Logan and move here to Denver (ironically I was the one that kind of pushed us to move here...the grass is always greener right?). So after the holidays died down but winter was still here I felt like I needed to see my friends before I went crazy! After this weekend I feel rejuvenated and ready to give Denver a chance, which I'm sure will make Blaine happy. I realized that my friends will always be there for me no matter where I live and how many miles are in between us (cheesy? yes, do I care? no! ha). And while Utah will always have a special place in my heart it was good to come back to sunny Denver, a place that is feeling more like home to me.

“It’s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what’s changed, is you.”-Benjamin Button

I think I have changed, but I'm glad at the end of the day my friends are changing with me. I feel so blessed to be so close to my college friends still. We are totally the kind of friends where our kids will be friends and we will all go on family vaca's together! For a list of the silly things only best friends do on "girls weekends" check out Juli's blog!

i'm not alone

I love blogs. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because they keep me busy everyday on slow days at work. But I like to think it's because I love to see the creative ideas of others, get a good laugh, keep up to date with friends that are far away or to hear personal stories.

This morning I was reading this blog (which has become a fave of mine) and I was surprised at what I read. This "rockstar" girl posted today that even she gets sad from time to time and has bad days. From the outside she is this pretty girl (that can rock bangs the way I can only dream of), has cool fashion sense, is really positive and fun, takes neat pictures, is a talented dancer and lives in the city that never sleeps...she seems to have it all but even she has trials that get her down.

So I'm not the only one that, in perspective, has a good life but still gets sad (and sometimes for no reason-which I'm sure Blaine loves) with day to day life? Weird!

If today is your sad, lonely, pity party day (what, we all have them) I hope you feel better tomorrow. I found this picture of a rainbow in Logan canyon...rainbows always cheer me up.

oh that's it...i'm so writing her a note!!!

I found this hilarious note on Apartment Therapy. While they were trying to come up with ways to deal with awkward roommate situations, I just laughed. This note takes me back to the awesome roommate days of mean notes, people drawing a line on their milk so they could tell if someone drank any, the battle of the thermostat, dealing with annoying boyfriends (none of which were mine of course)...and many more situations.

There were more good times than bad (with most of the roomies), but it is funny to look back at how silly most of the confrontations were. We thought we were soooo mature by leaving a nasty (passive-aggressive) note like:

Girls,
Please do your dishes on your day. I do not appreciate doing them every night!
Love,
"roommate"

Really you love me, are you sure? I admit I was totally the horrible roommate that didn't do my dishes, stole their milk and hated their boyfriends! What I'm an only child and hated going to the grocery store, really it's to be expected!

Luckily most of the girls I lived with while attending Utah State looked past my faults and are still my best friends in the whole wide world.
What are your crazy/funny college roommate stories?
