pumpkin fest 2012

Ok so we didn't actually make it to Pumpkin Fest this year.  I know, sad--it is a Turnbow tradition after all.  But it ended up being really cold that day and I wasn't willing to take newborn Nix and 2 year old Kash out in the freezing temps.  So what do you do if you can't go to one of your favorite events of the year? CRY! Have your best friends fly in from Arizona, find a place that sells pumpkins, take a bunch or picture and dream of how great life would be if they lived here to go to events like this all the time.  It was actually by coincidence that Bryan and Juli were able to come during a weekend packed full of Halloween/Fall events, but it turned out perfect to have them here!  It was like a dream come true for Juli and I to be together in the fall, pushing our babies around and going to festivals!

Of course everyone else had fun too!  I was actually a little worried about how Kash would be with Ava since she's a year younger than him but for the most part they got along great!  I think our boy may even have had a little crush on the pretty little Ava.  At one point after Juli got done doing Ava's hair Kash looked at her with a surprised look and said, "You look different! You aren't going anywhere!" haha I guess Kash really likes a girl with a bow in her hair and wanted her all to himself.

Since we couldn't make it to Pumpkin Fest we heard about our local nursery and garden shop having a lot of pumpkins and activities for kids.  So we packed up the kids to check it out. And it didn't disappoint!

LOVE Ava in this picture!  Her first jumpy castle!

Kash had a lot of fun picking out his own pumpkin this year.  At first he picked the biggest one he could find and then we quickly made the rule that he had to be able to carry it.

We loved sharing this tradition with our besties, and hope they can come back next year! ;)

pumpkin fest 2011

Oh man I feel like I'm pretty behind on this little blog of mine, but I have next week off of work so hopefully I'll get caught up on all of our recent activities.

The first weekend of October I dragged took my family to another fun year of Pumpkin Fest up in Golden, CO.  I think I did a pretty good job of talking it up because as we pulled up to Pumpkin Fest Kash started yelling, "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!!"
Kash is wearing one of Blaine's shirt from when he was little.
I think overall Kash had a lot of fun.  He thought it was pretty cool to play in the dirt where the pumpkins were and of course he enjoyed the petting zoo.  I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the dog races this year, hopefully they will be back next year.

This is always my favorite activity to kick off my favorite time of year!  It's even more fun now that Kash sorta knows what's going on.  I'm grateful that Blaine knows how important this is to me and goes with us every year!  Love my little family!

Can you tell how much I love PF2011?
Yearly tradition
And look how much Kash has grown since last year.  I love looking back and seeing how he's changed and remembering how he was.  I'll be sad when the day comes that he won't indulge my love for all things holidays.  But for now I'm living it up!

pumpkin fest 2010

Two of my favorite things, fall and festivals makes Pumpkin Fest an ultimate fave!  I fit in a little more this year with a baby in tow compared to before when I would just go into the petting zoo by myself!  I'm pretty sure the reason I had a baby was to take him to places like this and force him to love festivals as much as I do, okay maybe not the only reason...

I didn't really have to force Kash, he had a great time all on his own!  But really he takes after his mom and just loves to be around people no matter what the activity is.  We thought for sure he would love the dog races, because he loves dogs (duh), but he was more interested in picking the grass and grabbing the fence.

Highlight of Pumpkin Fest for me was the fact that they play the Monster Mash!

Since this is our second year attending Pumpkin Fest (I'm going to blame pregnancy for not attending last year) I'm hoping this now makes it a Turnbow tradition!

Little gems like this make Pumpkin Fest extra special!

Pumpkin Fest 2008

Pumpkin Fest 2008 was pretty fun. There was a dog show, petting zoo and we got to pet a hissing cockroach! Sadly, all of the free pumpkins were gone by the time we got there. I feel like if you are going to title your festival "Pumpkin Fest" you better have enough pumpkins for everyone!

I think the dog show was our favorite!!!

Don't worry I went in the petting zoo like I was five! I'm sure it was at this point Blaine wished he was golfing instead!

Scandinavian Festival

I attended my first festival of the season...and boy was it a way to kick off the season. Rachel and Tyler were ever so kind to invite me to go to the Scandinavian Festival with them [or maybe I invited myself] in Estes Park. First and foremost Estes Park is beautiful. Second the festival was awesome! We danced around the May Pole, sang about frogs with no ears, watched Vikings battle, ate moldy bagels and I got to hear Rachel speak Swedish all day {she served her mission in Sweden}. It was a lot of fun and I sure do hope I get to go to a lot more festivals this summer because I L-O-V-E them!

*Thanks for letting me tag along Red Hot Rach and Ty!!!
