and so it begins...

Going to our ultrasound appointment to find out the sex of our first baby Blaine was silent the whole drive there.  When the nurse said that our baby was definitely a boy Blaine shouted "YES!!!!!" (fist pump and all).

As a sports fanatic, it's needless to say Blaine has dreamed of the day when his little boy would start playing organized sports. Well his dream came true last Saturday when Kash had his first soccer "practice".  I'm not even sure what to call it because I doubt they will ever play in a real game and it seems more like organized chaos than anything else but it was still awesome to see our little boy out on the field.

Blaine wasn't the only one super excited, I was right there along with him.  While neither one of us love soccer it's the only sport that has a program for 3 year olds. Kash on the other hand loves it and always wants to kick the ball around, so we'll see how far this soccer thing goes.

And of course in true mom fashion I felt emotional all morning about this!  I can't believe how grown up he is and that he's "playing" sports now.  He did great at listening to his coach and following directions.  I know it's just a little 3 year old league but I was really proud of my little bubs!

I'm not sure what the point of this exercise in the video below was but Kash seems pretty focused on it.  (cameo made by his best friend Elliot of course)

let the battle begin

As I'm sure you all know by now Blaine is a Denver Nuggets fan and I'm a Utah Jazz fan.  So when I heard that they were playing each other in the first round of the playoffs I was TO'd!  It's the worst to cheer against your husband and it will be even harder to see him be so sad after the Jazz advance to the next round.

Please bless that Team Turnbow will still be a team after the first round of the playoffs. :)

blaine's new friend "badger"

Last night we went to the Rockies game--thanks to Joy and Jason for giving Blaine the tickets for his bday!! We finally arrived at our seats (after a few wrong turns while resulting in a few flights of unnecessary stairs), whipped out the treats we snuck in and we were ready for the ball game. As it turns out so was the guy next to us who came to the game solo. He was loudly talking to himself in hopes that someone would talk back. Well as soon as he started throwing out facts about the game Blaine was all ears, he will talk sports with anyone! This resulted in eight innings of me just people watching, checking my phone to see if anyone texted me and the occasional high-five from Blaine (I'm assuming this was only because his new friend wasn't official BFF status yet...yes yet)!

At one point the dude finally takes a bathroom break, in which he reassures Blaine he'll be right back (whew! we were all worried) and Blaine informs me that this guy's name is BADGER! What the freak? I'm thinking it must be a joke and somewhat pray that this so called "Badger" has trouble finding his seats like we originally did. Don't worry he didn't and Blaine and Badge pick up right where they left off.

To top everything off at the end of the game "Badger" asks for Blaine's number so that they can maybe go to a game together!!!! I lost it...I seriously had to pretend I was looking for something in my purse because I couldn't stop laughing. So Blaine does the polite thing and gets his number confirming that his name is Badger, well it only gets better HIS NAME IS PATRICK!!!!!!!!!! Wow...I seriously couldn't handle the ridiculousness of the night anymore!

High fives were eventually given, numbers where exchanged and Blaine finally made a friend in Denver.

I guess I shouldn't laugh I'm still searching for my Denver BFF.

Don't let this picture fool you, this was the only time Blaine and I really interacted!

speaking of the jazz...

Jerry Sloan and John Stockton were inducted in the basketball hall of fame this week!

Stockton is the reason I love the Utah Jazz and the game of basketball. Watching the Jazz still doesn't feel the same without hearing Stockton to Malone.

I think I will forever be obsessed with John Stockton. In my high school speech class we could pick any person to speak on and of course I chose Stockton. My Chicago Bulls-loving peers laughed through my entire speech. I still carry Stockton's trading card in my wallet in case I ever meet him he can sign it. My freshmen year of college I sat in my dorm room and cried as I watch the last game Stockton would ever play. And my eyes welled up again when I heard he was inducted into the hall of fame.

So to the greatest point great ever, from your number one fan...congratulations Stockton! And congrats to the greatest coach ever, the Jazz will never be the same once you are gone!

"I think Jerry certainly deserves it," Layden said. "There wasn't a doubt in my mind he should be in. If anybody didn't vote for him, they should be investigated."

Jazz vs. Nuggets

Of course my hair fell in my face right as the picture was being taken. But I wasn't about to ask the crabby security guard for a retake!

There once was a boy who was obsessed with the Denver Nuggets. And there was a girl who had an undying love for the Utah Jazz (even at such places as the United Center and Pepsi Center). All though their preferences in basketball were clearly different they defied the odds and got married! But from that day forward their house would be a battle ground anytime the Jazz played the Nuggets.

On Thursday my mom surprised Blaine with an earlier birthday present...two awesome tickets to the Jazz vs. Nuggets game! While the game was super fun, I'm going to stick to watching the Jazz either at home or in Utah. The Nuggets fans were brutal. I mean, I expected it and had tons of fun. But at one point the whole arena started chanting UTAH SUCKS and I had to get up and represent the UT by pointing to my Jazz shirt. Sadly that Jazz didn't even win!!! :(

I guess Blaine and I are even now. A few years ago we went to a Jazz/Nuggs game in Utah and he too was heckled by the fans. (Denver fans were worse though!)

Thanks mom for a great night, and giving Blaine a birthday gift I could enjoy too!
The Nuggets participated in NBA's Green Week 2009 by wearing green jersey's. We thought that was cool.

we're back in the dance, yo!

Apparently I turn ghetto when talking about basketball?!? Awesome.

Utah State plays in the tournament today. For more details on how exciting this is for USU and how in the end the Aggies will probably never get the recognition they deserve check out what Marques has to say.

GO AGGIES (que the Scotsman!)

party of two

People always say it's important to marry your best friend, because one day you will only have each other. Well I didn't realize that day would come so early in my life but here it is, and to be honest I love it! Blaine is the funniest person I know and I'm so glad I get to hang out with him all the time...even if it's only a party of two!

And if there's one thing Blaine loves, it's sports! So just because it's only the two of us I still wanted to make one of the biggest days in sports special for him...by having a super bowl PARTY of course!! For our hoppin party I made the easiest/best dip in the world. Here's the recipe:
Easiest Queso Dip in the World
1 can of chili
1 8 oz. package of cream cheese
Combine chili and cream cheese and heat on stove until mixture is creamy.
*variation of recipe: Spread cream cheese out on microwavable plate and pour chili on top. Add shredded cheese to the top and microwave for a few minutes or until cheese is melted.
That's it...it's definitely a fave at our house a must have for game nights.

thankful thursday

(I had to edit this post because I forgot it's Thankful Thursday)I'm thankful that the Jazz won last night.

I can't think of better season opener for the Utah Jazz than beating the Nuggets last night...well maybe if it were the Lakers. Even though D Will was out with an ankle injury the Jazz managed to sneak out a win.

Booz looked pretty good last night, but to be honest the team did look a little weak with out Williams and Harpring. Hopefully both will be back soon. Either way I'm loving that the NBA season has started.
Go Jazz!!!!!
