farmers market

I've been wanting to go to the farmers market all summer, but it seemed like our schedule never allowed it.  Well I happened upon one last Saturday while running some errands with Kash.  He was excited because of all the dogs and free samples, I think I was excited for the same reason.  Oh and the fact that there was this big truck full of nothing but watermelon made me pretty happy as well! Next to the truck there were samples of the said watermelon and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a yellow one!  Now I've seen white pumpkins and yellow cucumbers, but never have I seen the insides of a watermelon be yellow!
The one time I don't have my camera with me...
It actually tasted just like regular watermelon, which means it was awesome. Kash even thought so and asked for seconds, maybe I got both of us seconds.  I didn't end up buying any because I didn't have any cash on me (minus my child of course) and wasn't really prepared for this impromptu stop.  While we left empty handed I'm glad I was able to finally go to a farmers market before summer fades into fall!

summer equals watermelon and road trips

I have an addiction.  I brought a bowl of watermelon to work to snack on through out the day, well I have no self control when it comes to watermelon and it was all gone by 10:00am...woops!

On a different note we are heading to Utah this week for one of my best friend's wedding.  It will be fun to see Sayward tie the knot, show Kash around our old stomping grounds (his first trip to the UT), see our Dewey's again and eat at all the local restaurants in Logan!  Blaine and I have so many places we want to eat at while we're there that instead of bringing home souvenirs we'll probably just bring home a few extra lbs!

PS-watch for Kash's 5 month post this week...big things happened last month!

memorial day weekend

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick off party to summer!  It's also is the "magical" date that allows us to pull out our white capris from the bottom of the closet, opening day for pools (even though there are many days before the 31st that are pool worthy), and the date that watermelon starts to taste good enough to buy!

We are starting our celebrations a little early and heading to sunny Arizona tomorrow to visit our best friends.  I hope you all have a fun weekend full of picnics, warm weather, family, croquet and watermelon!  Here's a link on how to cut a watermelon in honor of the start of summer.  Being the lover of all things watermelon I can't believe I never knew how to cut one this way!

fireflies

My aunt called me this week and said, "I'm just driving home from work and there are fireflies in the cornfields and it made me think of you. I don't know why I just always think of you when I see fireflies!" I told her it's probably because I thought they were make believe before I moved to Illinois and it was a magical experience the first time I saw them.

Fireflies were my favorite part of Illinois. And sometimes when it's a little humid out and the sun is just going down I search for them, but unfortunately they are no where to be found out here in the west!

Have a happy summer weekend everyone!

oh hello August

So, Mother Nature must totally read my blog (I mean doesn't everyone???) because the first weekend in August was beautiful! I managed to make my way to the pool, the mall and even get a few mini walks in with Blaine!
I'm excited for August...not really sure why.

It could be because we find out if our baby will wear blue or pink on the 28th.

It could be because school is starting up. While I'm not a student, I love that feeling of the first week of school. Everyone getting new clothes, school supplies, the anticipation yet nervousness of the kids--you can feel the excitement in the air. I always miss USU around this time of year.

It could be because it means we are one month closer to my favorite season.

It could be because it's the perfect weather for reading a book at the park on my lunch break.

It could be because it's our anniversary this month.

It could just be because July was super busy and August seems promising for sleeping in on Saturdays and having lots of me days.

Hooray for August!

Colorado summer--what a jip!

This is what has been flashing on my TV all summer!

It's been in the 50's all week. It rains when I go to work, it rains when I leave. We make our poor youth at church play water games in 60 degree weather. I've already pulled out my pumpkin pie candle, and I'm about ready to get out my autumn decorations. I feel like I'm supposed to be begging Blaine to take me to the pumpkin patch instead of the pool! This is just ridiculous. I love fall (with all my heart that is) but I want my summer back! I want to be tan. I want to go on Sunday walks with my husband.
This sucks!

birthday girl

Don't let that picture fool you, I wasn't thrilled about turning 25. But despite being 25 I still managed to have fun on my birthday.

A couple days before my b-day our friends the Hansen's came to visit. That was a present all by itself. But while they were here we went to Water World (the largest water park in America-boo yeah!), the Rockies game and hung out down town.

Sadly I forgot my camera for Water World (or maybe missing out on seeing me in a swimsuit isn't that sad) but here are a few pics of the game and downtown. Don't they have the cutest kids? Then the Turnbow's threw me a great party, watermelon birthday cake and all!
I still couldn't believe I was 25.

Thanks to all of those who sent birthday wishes my way!
Here's to another year!

blaine's new friend "badger"

Last night we went to the Rockies game--thanks to Joy and Jason for giving Blaine the tickets for his bday!! We finally arrived at our seats (after a few wrong turns while resulting in a few flights of unnecessary stairs), whipped out the treats we snuck in and we were ready for the ball game. As it turns out so was the guy next to us who came to the game solo. He was loudly talking to himself in hopes that someone would talk back. Well as soon as he started throwing out facts about the game Blaine was all ears, he will talk sports with anyone! This resulted in eight innings of me just people watching, checking my phone to see if anyone texted me and the occasional high-five from Blaine (I'm assuming this was only because his new friend wasn't official BFF status yet...yes yet)!

At one point the dude finally takes a bathroom break, in which he reassures Blaine he'll be right back (whew! we were all worried) and Blaine informs me that this guy's name is BADGER! What the freak? I'm thinking it must be a joke and somewhat pray that this so called "Badger" has trouble finding his seats like we originally did. Don't worry he didn't and Blaine and Badge pick up right where they left off.

To top everything off at the end of the game "Badger" asks for Blaine's number so that they can maybe go to a game together!!!! I lost it...I seriously had to pretend I was looking for something in my purse because I couldn't stop laughing. So Blaine does the polite thing and gets his number confirming that his name is Badger, well it only gets better HIS NAME IS PATRICK!!!!!!!!!! Wow...I seriously couldn't handle the ridiculousness of the night anymore!

High fives were eventually given, numbers where exchanged and Blaine finally made a friend in Denver.

I guess I shouldn't laugh I'm still searching for my Denver BFF.

Blaine: 1
Eggs: 0

Don't let this picture fool you, this was the only time Blaine and I really interacted!

Happy Summer!

Last weekend someone left this little girl on our porch. We're still not sure who left her (obviously someone pretty awesome), although Blaine's attempt to run outside and find the culprit was very admirable.

So Happy Summer/Memorial Day/long weekend! My mom's in town this weekend so it's sure to be a "happy" one for us!
